The 20th of March at Olivette lanes was met with a surprise to Blake Critzas in the form of a cake and some visitors to celebrate his birthday. It was also Bowler appreciation night and food was provided for all us league bowlers, thank you for the great food and greasy lanes Don! Each matchup had at least one bowler absent and we can only assume they faked an illness so they could be outside. The winner of the 50/50 was no other than Jan Pudwolski, an outsider to the Rotarian group but a long-time Monday bowler that loves to partake in the 50/50 raffle.
Highlights of the night included a ton of gutter balls by some the top Rotarian bowlers. I will not name names as I have already been threatened with a higher league fee for next year as I am blamed for an uptick in replacement pins. Also, a lot of 10 pins were left in the lanes after perfect pocket hits and I heard a few rumors that a couple of people saw the owner scraping off the bottom of the 10 pin to gain an advantage for the night!
Onto the matchups for this past Monday!
Team Wiess was up to their old shenanigans by sandbagging the first game then taking the next two from Team Borough. Blake had the high game of the night with a scratch 221 in the first game but that was not enough to overcome the drinking buddies of Weiss, Holt and Windish as they took the series from Team Borough.
Team Lorenz beat Team Wendling but that was only because they had Katie “strikeout” LaMarsh on their team! She finished the night with a 623 handicap series and that was enough to fend off Steve’s high scratch game of 218 for a series victory.
Team Cowell “Finch” took on Team Decker and not a whole lot was happing on their lanes except for a lot of gutter balls!!! In the end Team Cowell “Finch” took Team Decker 2 to 1 and that gave them the series win as well.
Team Milne took on Team Werner at the end of the ally and these two teams made up the best matchup of the night. specifically, the second game of the match which Team Werner took from Team Milne by 1 pin, yes just 1 pin! Not only was that game close so was the series win as a total of 2 pins gave Team Milne the series win over Team Werner.
