Monday night December 3rd the Rotary Bowling League met again to battle for the 2nd quarter bragging rights in Season 100.
Team “Cowbell” Cowell was in first place at the beginning of the night but hit a bit of a speed bump going up against Team Lorenz. Lorenz took 2 of 3 and total from the first place team and would have had all 3 if not for some great clutch anchor bowling by team captain Cowell who threw 5 strikes in a row in the second game to win it by 13 pins. At the end of the night Team Lorenz won 12 and Cowell 10. Doug Lorenz avenged the thumping he received at the hands of Beth Russel earlier in the year and won the re-match.
Team Weiss the second place team faced off against Team Cooper in a rowdy match (it’s always rowdy with Team Weiss). Team Weiss won the match 18 – 4 to end the night back on top of the standings. They were rooted on by injured teammate Jack Windish who is still on the bench with a mysterious right wrist injury (insert your own joke here).
Team Soifer bested Team Decker 14 -8. Just a note to Ralph Decker, bowling starts at 6:00. Ralph eventually showed up and bowled the high game of the night at a 217.
Team Harris beat Team Kocher 15 – 7. Team Kocher had the high scratch game of the week at a 696 and the high scratch series at 1933.
Standings for Q2 as of the end of the night:
- Cowell -2
- Harris -7
- Soifer -28
- Kocher -29
- Lorenz -34
- Decker -36
- Cooper -54
Pretty close between 1st and 3rd and then there are the rest of us having fun. There are only 2 weeks left in this quarter so it should be a fun couple of weeks.
We had only four 200+ games Monday:
Ralph Decker – 217
David Cowell – 205
Dan Naes – 205
Don Klackner – 204
Final Note: Don Klackner (Bowling Proprietor of the Year) requests, that in the future, the ladies refrain from flushing under garments down the toilet as it clogs the plumbing and makes a mess.
