The first week of the second half of the Rotary Bowling League commenced on a balmy night competing with the Alabama/Clemson football game. Like Alabama the Cooper team (3-19) and the Weiss team (6-16) were blown out by superior opponents. The impressive 914 winning total Weiss managed in the first game was similar to Alabama’s first half effort, only to fold for the remainder of the contest.
Ken Schuman became the first “man on” to buy a round, losing in the first frame of the first game. Mike Borough purchased the winning 50/50 ticket taking home a respectable $____ (amount deleted in case IRS is monitoring this site.)
“Shuffling” Bob Barnes was worn out from so much celebrating. His 722 handicapped series beat the formidable David Cowell (who recorded the week high game of 233) and landed him squarely in fifth place in high series for the year. Frank Brandhorst was so focused on the game he rolled to an empty alley, and GOT A STRIKE. But unfortunately the recorded “strike” was witnessed by others and the roll was called back.
With such an array of participants, the only thing separating the first place team from the last place team is TALENT. This is evident since the first place Cowell team has a season total of 27,240 scratch pines, whereas the last place Lorenz team has a season total of 30,455 pins. Obviously, the talent is maximizing the handicap.
