About Mark A. Hays
Mark A. Hays is field director at the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. As field director, he oversees membership, program, finance, and manpower operations of a service area with 10,000 youth members, 3,500 adult volunteers, 300 community Scouting programs, 8 executive staff, 15 paraprofessionals, and fundraising revenue of $1 million.
Mark is active in the St. Louis community. He is a member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis Men’s Leadership Society and GenNext, the Regional Business Council Young Professionals Network, the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of St. Louis, and Rotary International.
Born in Illinois, Mark received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in psychology from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. While there, his research specialties were abnormal psychology and cognitive development.
He has dedicated his career to organizations focused on strengthening youth and families through leadership training; promoting physical, emotional, and mental fitness; and building healthy relationships. Mark joined the staff of the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America as district executive in 2007. He was promoted to, and served as, senior district executive, district director, and since 2014 as field director.
A resident of St. Louis, Mark enjoys volunteering, running, urban exploration, music studies, and riding his motorcycle.
