President Concannon began the meeting by announcing our upcoming programs. She then thanked Adam McNutt for his leadership with the St. Patrick’s Parade float and reminded everyone that all monies donated to the All-in-One Fund help local charities, and to please give if you have not done so already.
Rick Tinucci was then called forward to give a special presentation. He awarded Terry Werner a Paul Harris Fellow. Congratulations to Terry on this well-deserved award.
Dave Wicks stood in for Sgt. At Arms, Jim Cavanagh who was absent due to illness. Dave shared with the group how excited he is to be headed to President’s Training in Jefferson City, and then introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians.
Club Member John Simon introduced the guest, Mr. Joe Scallorns, Air Force Civic Leader.
Joe recently had the distinct privilege of taking part in a training mission aboard a B-2 Stealth Bomber. Joe went through the same trainings and mission briefings as a normal pilot would. The training mission involved a simulated bombing run and a mid-air refueling. Joe compared the actual flight experience that of a ride in a 747. The real thrill came in experiencing the technology of the B-2.
At the conclusion of the flight, Mr. Scallorns was awarded Spirit Number 539, representing that he was the 539th person to fly in the B-2 Stealth Bomber. More individuals have flown on the space shuttle than in the B-2.
