Scribe’s Report – January 4, 2019 – Don Lorenz
President Beth Russell called the meeting to order promptly at 12 noon in the Missouri Room of the Missouri Athletic Club. Everyone was asked to rise and join in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jay Gary Neal continued with the respectful invocation and the singer of the day Mark Roock led us in a great rendition of “If I Had A Hammer”
We were then seated for lunch. President Beth continued with announcements referring to upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. President Beth also noted our upcoming speaker Juli Niemann will be letting us know where to invest our money for 2018. President Beth also mentioned our upcoming social event at The Salvation Army at 3010 Washington Ave, January 17th.
Rick Tinucci reported on our Keeline Challenge. He announced we had raised the $12,500 of matching money. Great job Club 11 #Rotaryproud.
President Beth continued the Club 11 business meeting by thanking her board and presented the year 2017 in-review. Some of the highlights for 2017, Club 11 has met all the goals for the Rotary Presidential Citation. We adopted the new bylaws, have had great successes with more media coverage, we have had many social events and looking forward to more. We have adopted the #Rotaryproud which seems to be catching on.
Bob Garagiola then gave us the financial status of the club. Bob mentioned club 11 was debt free and continued to maintain financial liquidity. Bob also mentioned that if everything goes as planned there could be a surplus. He then handled a question and answer period.\
Ken Shuman reviewed the Club 11 Endowment Fund and noted we approximately $850,000. He mentioned the scholarships, young citizen awards, policeman of the year award and 8th grade awards are all sponsored by the endowment fund.
Chris Conner standing in for Jeromy Fritz, reviewed the current membership demographics and discussed what the committee was doing to add members and what we as individuals can do to assist in gaining membership.
Mike Mozella then announced guests at our meeting which there was only one. Our favorite guest of all Jay Gary Neal. Mike also reviewed the survey which 70 people completed.
Meeting was adjourned 1:00 pm January 4th, 2018
