President Beth Russell called the meeting to order at noon followed be the Pledge of Allegiance and the recital of the Rotary 4 Way Test
Bill Piper then lead us in a group in a wonderful rendition of the Beatles song “Here comes the Sun” during a time of grey dreary days.
President Beth made the announcement of the untimely resignation of Michelle Fassler. Michelle took a new job that will not allow her time to devote to Rotary. Bob Sherrill will take the President position in the next Rotary year. A replacement for Bob’s position will be completed by vote soon.
There will be joint happy hour with the Chesterfield Club on April 3rd at Edgewild Wines in Chesterfield.
Mike Regan made the announcement that we are in need of invocators and scribes. A sheet to sign up is being circulated.
Bob Sherrill passed around a bucket for a new campaign – Spare Change for Alzheimers. Please donate any loose change you might have to this terrible illness.
Sargeant at Arms Mike Mosella was next on the agenda introducing guest and visiting Rotarians We had 3 guest today including David Cowell’s better half, Jean Cowell and Honey Beth Higgs from North Carolina. And as usual our favorite visiting Rotarian J. Gary Neal was present.
He also introduced new member Nicole Roberson to our club. Welcome Nicole
Helen DiFate introduced our Program for today, Mr. Chris LImbergh with the Prison Performing Arts.
The Prison Performing Arts (PPA) performed an inspiring original play created an performed by the Alumni Company of PPA. The play called “Think” was first performed about a year ago and has gone through a few changes.
PPA gives inmates and “Alumni” a chance to work on something good and in return the get skills back that can help them in life. Most of the performers stay our of trouble in jail and when the get out. The success rate is very high. Interesting group and project that seems important in todays society.
Since the 50/50 has started the 2nd deck of cards we had the drawing after the program. Bob Kocher had the winning ticket but was unsuccessful and the drawing continues next week.
