JAMES A. FINCH, III

Jim passed away suddenly while in Paris with his wife Carolyn. As of now there is no information regarding a memorial service until Carolyn returns to the United States.
Jim joined our Rotary Club in April 1980 and served as president 1990-1991. He joined the club under the classification of “Trust Company” while with Guaranty Trust of Missouri where he worked from 1969-1994 and served as President, CEO, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Investment Committee and Vice Chairman of the Board. Jim retired from Guaranty Trust in December 2006 and formed Finch Associates where he provided trust and investment management services for individuals.
Jim’s charitable activites included managing trustee of the James T. Pettus, Jr. Foundation and he served as a counselor for 5 years for Paul Newmans’ Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for kids with blood related diseases in Ashford, Connecticut. Jim was a member of the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis, Knights of the Cauliflower Ear and the Davenport and Jefferson Societies at the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Jim’s Rotary activities included serving many years on the classification committee, the Rotary bowling and golf leagues and he chaired several district conferences. Jim served as Team Leader for the Group Study Exchange to Denmark in May 2010.
