John Wharton, managing director of facilities, St. Louis Science Center introduced our speaker Beverly Hacker the Executive Director for KDHX Community Media in St. Louis. KDHX can be found at 88.1 on your FM Radio. Beverly had many jobs and did not start in radio but in accounting. Beverly later started as a programmer at KDHX and worked her way into the business. Beverly was an accomplished speaker and did a nice job of explaining KDHX’s mission of building community through media and how far they have come from inception 27 years ago. KDHX is dedicated to the arts and music and dabbles with News talk. The Public radio station is privately funded both by donations and sponsors and realized almost 2 million in funding last year and currently has 85,000 listeners a week. Tune in this week and check out a St. Louis Gem!
Beverly answered a couple of questions and President Vic adjourned the meeting promptly at 1:00pm.
